Based in Austin, Jonesy refines Hill’s operations, strategic planning, compliance, and firm financials.
She graduated from the University of Texas in 2020 after majoring in math and competing on the track & field team as a pole vaulter. *Fun fact: Jonesy is not our first Division 1 track & field athlete.
Jonesy started her career at Dimensional Fund Advisors, working with evidence-based wealth management firms like ours. After her time at DFA, she joined Focus Financial Partners, helping a select group of wealth management firms grow their organizations.
Why financial services?
Dealing with money can be overwhelming, burdensome, and stressful to people for several reasons: lack of time to appropriately plan and invest, past poor experiences dealing with money, or simply lack of interest. Similar to when dealing with your health, having an objective advocate who can help you increase the odds of meeting your desired outcome is essential.
I chose this career because it combines my strengths: type A, planning-oriented individual with a math background and allows me to help transform lives through evidence-based methods.
What’s the story behind your name?
That is the most asked question I get. My maternal great-great grandma’s maiden name was Mabel Jones, and because she hated her first name, she went by Jonesy as a nickname. Additionally, my paternal great-grandfather went by Jonesy as a nickname! However, it is my legal name! I’ve never met another Jonesy (not even someone with the nickname), but I know the cat from the 1979 movie Alien is named Jonesy. Also, randomly, I was perusing Barnes N Noble one day and saw this book (Jonesy Flux and The Gray Legion). Funny enough, I wanted to be an aerospace engineer at one point.
My last name is French (pronounced Shu-Voe). My family’s last name, as are many others, was based on a physical characteristic or personal attribute of the initial bearer. The surname Chauvot was derived from the old French word “chauf,” which was in turn based upon the Latin word “calvus,” meaning “bald.” Hence, the initial bearer of the name Chauvot would have been one with little or no hair.
What was your first job?
If you don’t count the sporadic nanny jobs in my preteens, my first job was to be several Disney princesses for birthday parties. I’ve been Elsa, Anna, Ariel, and Belle!
My Entrepreneurial Adventure
One of the characteristics that drew me to Hill was the firm’s entrepreneurial spirit (amongst many other incredible characteristics). I’ve always known I am an entrepreneur at heart. Here are some of my most memorable ventures:
Starting a family newspaper…It was only circulated to my parents and siblings, but I would comment on activities like my dad’s house projects or what my mom’s latest research paper was about,
Becoming the nanny of Pearland, TX, and
Starting my own photography business during the pandemic.
On the docket…
My dream is to one day own a wedding venue! I love events that bring together someone’s closest family and friends. I’d like to buy an old Victorian house on some land one day and be able to host the wedding party onsite, along with the ceremony and reception. I always think the name “Chateau Chauvot” has a nice ring to it.

My mom, sister, and I enjoy the same books. A few years ago, I read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter and gave my sister my copy while I started on my next Slaughter book. She then recommended Pretty Girls to my mom, and our Karin Slaughter books quickly became traded between us. Since then, my mom has started reading all of Karin’s books in order (she started the “Will Trent” series back in 2006 and wrapped in 2020)! There is a series on Hulu (Will Trent) that follows the series–although I don’t think it does Karin’s books justice.
What I Find Underrated
The powerful combination of functional and Western medicine. We have come an impressively long way with modern medicine and how we treat diseases. Unfortunately, I believe these advancements have resulted in an overreliance on “quick fixes” and have allowed us to ignore lifestyle habits that, over time, can make us sick: our food quality and what we eat, inconsistent sleep, lack of movement, and insufficient stress management. Funny enough, this is perfectly in line with our investment philosophy. It’s being disciplined every day with evidence-based choices that pay off in the long run!
