Summer Reading Preview – A New Book from Carl Richards

CarlRichardsBookWe’re excited to announce that we’ve just pre-ordered copies of Carl Richards’ newest book, The One-Page Financial Plan. It’s an incredibly practical guide to making decisions about money—we think you’ll enjoy it. We will give all of our clients a copy as our summer reading recommendation for 2015 as soon as they’re available. Check your mailbox before you check out for your travel this summer.

Proxy Voting at Dimensional

A note to our clients: Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) has a proxy vote underway for shareholders of certain funds that requires participation. We encourage you to submit your votes by signing and returning the paper materials mailed to your home, and if you’re unable to do so, a third-party proxy facilitator will reach out to you over the phone beginning in April.

The board members for DFA’s funds (most of whom are not affiliated with DFA) are responsible for protecting your interests as a shareholder and believe that these proposals are in the best interests of shareholders. They recommend that you vote in favor of the proposals.

Visit DFA’s 2015 proxy vote page on their website or view this letter from DFA’s Chairman, David Booth, for more information.

Planning for Retirement

Planning for the Life You Want - ThumbnailThe Wall Street Journal’s recent article, “A Guide to Not Retiring,” provides a detailed look at how to approach retirement. Much like my piece on the same topic, “Planning for the Life You Want,” the recommendation is to proactively build a retirement plan—one that keeps you mentally engaged and active after retiring from your traditional work.

I did the same for myself as I neared the end of my 24-year career at Anheuser-Busch. I encourage you to read my article and complete the follow-up exercise. I trust that you’ll find it valuable.
